Savannah Hicks was born and raised in Florida. She spent her childhood playing in her neighborhood, riding bikes, and spending time at the beach. Savannah was raised in a Christian home with an emphasis on empathy and serving others. She loves spending time outdoors, especially near the water or hiking in the mountains. She has a passion for helping others, specifically children with intellectual and developmental delays. Savannah attended Florida State University and graduated with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Childhood Development in 2018. Savannah was highly involved with her college’s Best Buddies chapter, and served families and students as an orientation leader. She has always been an active member of her church community, and loves the fellowship it brings. In college she taught a college readiness class to freshman students and was involved in YoungLife. After college she spent a year teaching preschool classes in Tampa, and gained a greater appreciation toward play and childhood well-being. Savannah moved to Nashville to start school at Belmont University’s Occupational Therapy program. She graduated with her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in 2022. She met her husband in Nashville and they were married in 2023. Savannah has worked as an occupational therapist in a local school district with preschool aged children for the past 3 years. Savannah loves to be creative and playful with children, and has a passion for child led play and neurodiversity affirming practices. She believes that nature is a powerful place for children to thrive developmentally, academically, and spiritually. She currently lives in Nashville with her husband and their puppy. During her free time Savannah enjoys visiting national parks with her family, walking with her husband and friends, and learning to garden. Savannah is thrilled and honored to join the Ferntop family, and considers it a privilege to support children in their early years through the mission of Ferntop.
